Amanda Brugel

Pointe Claire in Montreal's West Island is a tiny quiet town. This part of the island known as West Island can be confusing to people unfamiliar to its significance. They often believe it is an island to the west of Montreal However, the West Island encompasses everything between the two cities in Lachine and West. Amanda Brugel is said to have been born on West Island. However, this isn't the truth. Brugel developed on Courtice close to Oshawa located in Ontario. Early ambitions were to become an expert dancer. Then, a growth spurt caused her to outgrow all of the dance partners she had. According to an article by Toronto Star, she revealed her height in heels as 6 feet 1 inch tall. When I surpassed my male counterpart then I slowed down. Many former dancers turn to acting, and in Brugel's situation, it was the nudge of a high school drama teacher which led her in the right direction. Her teacher encouraged her to try out to play the character of Anne in their annual school production. After trying out her options, she was eventually the leading lady for Anne of Green Gables. Following her award of the Fine Arts Talent Scholarship, she enrolled in York University and earned a Bachelor of Fine Arts Degree in 2000. Over the past 20 years, the roles played by Brugel in the world of television and on the screen have been numerous. Her role as Rita from the award winning show The Handmaid's Tale was her most memorable. Brugel made an appearance on only a handful of occasions in the first season of the series The Handmaid's tale. She was the only Canadian actor.
